The Afinia L501 dye print head, which must be used with the corresponding L501 dye CMYK ink cartridges, serves as the basis for using the L501 to print vibrant “prime” labels. The L501 dye print head can be swapped out for the pigment print head and pigment inks in the same printer, allowing the L501 to be used for both dye and pigment-based labeling applications.
